AT 220 SOUTH MAIN STREET (OLD FLEET MAINTENANCE BUILDING)
ISSUE

220 South Main Street (Old Fleet Maintenance Building).
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution
BACKGROUND
This structure was scheduled to be demolished later in the summer, however, when some
of the loose plaster on the front of the building was being dislodged to eliminate a safety
hazard along the sidewalk, the wall showed signs of being unstable. Per Section 1 -10 -5
of the Municipal Code, permission was granted by the City Manager to forgo formal
bidding procedures and to demolish the unsafe structure as quickly as possible.
Informal bids were taken and a copy of the bid results is attached.
Alternate No. 1 bid item includes the removal of the floor slab and building foundations.
Demolition activities began on May 1, 2002, with asbestos removal and should be
completed by May 30, 2002.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
This demolition contract will be paid from the FY 2002 Capital Improvement Fund,
Project No. CP0201.
