HomeMy WebLinkAbout09600RESOLUTION NO. 9600 A RESOLUTION RATIFYING A CONTRACT TO DIRT N DEMO IN THE AMOUNT OF $47,080.00 FOR THE DEMOLITION OF THE UNSAFE STRUCTURE AT 220 SOUTH MAIN (OLD FLEET MAINTENANCE BUILDING) WHEREAS, proposals for Building Demolition — 220 South Main have been received and examined; and WHEREAS, the proposal of Dirt N Demo of Pueblo, Colorado, was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1 A Contract for Demolition of 220 South Main be, and the same is hereby ratified to Dirt N Demo in the amount of $47,080.00. SECTION 2 The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3 Funds for this project shall be paid out of FY 2002 Capital Improvement Fund, Project Number CP0201. RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution BACKGROUND This structure was scheduled to be demolished later in the summer, however, when some of the loose plaster on the front of the building was being dislodged to eliminate a safety hazard along the sidewalk, the wall showed signs of being unstable. Per Section 1 -10 -5 of the Municipal Code, permission was granted by the City Manager to forgo formal bidding procedures and to demolish the unsafe structure as quickly as possible. Informal bids were taken and a copy of the bid results is attached. Alternate No. 1 bid item includes the removal of the floor slab and building foundations. Demolition activities began on May 1, 2002, with asbestos removal and should be completed by May 30, 2002. FINANCIAL IMPACT This demolition contract will be paid from the FY 2002 Capital Improvement Fund, Project No. CP0201.
