HomeMy WebLinkAbout09461RESOLUTION NO. 9461 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF REAL PROPERTY IN THE 200 BLOCK OF FIRST STREET TO THE STATE OF COLORADO, STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF COLORADO BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1 The Quit Claim Deed from Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation to the State of Colorado, State Historical Society of Colorado, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved. SECTION 2: The President of City Council is hereby authorized to execute and deliver the Quit Claim Deed in the name of the City and the City Clerk is directed to affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same. RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution. BACKGROUND The El Pueblo Site Development Master Plan has been completed. The Project consists of the development of the entire block surrounded by First Street, Grand Avenue Victoria Avenue, and Union Avenue. The development components include: expansion of the museum; construction of an adobe trading post /fort; construction of an archaeology pavilion; development of a park/plaza; and completion of right -of -way improvements. The construction of part of the new El Pueblo museum will extend approximately 9 feet into the lots north of the alley to be vacated by Agenda Item No. 27 of tonight's meeting. This property transfer is for that portion of land needed for construction north of the alley. ( See attached drawing. ) Demolition of the existing buildings on the site is complete. The timing of the transfer of this property to the State is critical and urgent to assure the start of construction by the start of January of 2002 Enclosed please find a copy of the Quit Claim Deed.
