TITLE
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REDESIGNATION OF CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT FUNDS FOR THE REMODELING OF THE OFFICES FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
ISSUE
Should the City of Pueblo redesignation of funds from the FY 2000 Capital Improvement
Budget, Project CP0002 -- Building Addition to the Planning Department, for the purpose
of remodeling offices in the Department of Community Development?
RECOMMENDATION
Approve this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
In the FY 2000 Budget, the City Council authorized $51,000 within the Capital
Improvement Fund to construct an addition to the former gas station directly west of the
Planning Department offices. This addition was to house various functions within the
Planning Department. There are environmental abatement issues surrounding the
proposed site. The combining of the Departments of Planning and Development with the
Department of Zoning has since opened up opportunities to reconfigure the current space
through the use of modular office systems. The construction of a building addition has
been deemed to be unfeasible due to the environmental abatement issues. The
remodeling of the current Planning offices and the addition of modular office units will
resolve the office space needs. Approval of this resolution will allow the monies
previously appropriated for a building addition to be expended for the remodeling of the
Planning offices.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None. The remodeling and purchase of the office furniture will not be greater than the
$51,000 currently budgeted for construction.
