ISSUE
Should the City Council approve a Contract to Dirt N Demo for the demolition 215 North
Victoria Avenue?
RECOMMENDATION

BACKGROUND
Demolition of the property at 215 North Victoria Avenue is necessary for the completion of the
El Pueblo project. A portion of the building to be demolished has been transferred to the State of
Colorado, Colorado Historical Society so the new El Pueblo Museum can be constructed. The
remaining property will be developed into a public park/plaza and a parking lot.
Funding for the demolition will be provided by a grant from the Economic Development
Administration and from the balance of an account previously authorized for the acquisition and
demolition for the El Pueblo project. Dirt N Demo Company is the successful bidder for the
project. The award for the Contract is in the amount of $37,412 and a contingency of $13,000
has been estimated for additional work that may be needed such as structural fill material for
unforeseen basement size and depth and a possible underground tank. The possible underground
tank will be investigated as part of this Contract.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $50,412 shall be paid from Project Accounts ELO101 and CP0023.
