TITLE
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF A PORTION OF REAL PROPERTY
AT 215 NORTH VICTORIA AVENUE TO THE STATE OF COLORADO, STATE
HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF COLORADO
ISSUE
Should the City Council authorize the transfer of a real property to the State of Colorado,
Colorado Historical Society for the El Pueblo Museum expansion project?
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of this Resolution.
BACKGROUND
The El Pueblo Site Development Master Plan has been completed. The Project consists of the
development of the entire block surrounded by First Street, Grand Avenue Victoria Avenue, and
Union Avenue. The development components include: expansion of the museum; construction
of an adobe trading post/fort; construction of an archaeology pavilion; development of a
park/plaza; and completion of right -of -way improvements.
The Museum Expansion Plans consists of the construction of the new El Pueblo museum and the
demolition of a City owned vacant building purchased from the Walter Timme Trust ( Timme
Motors) located at 215 N. Victoria Avenue. The City of Pueblo acquired the building in
September with Capital Outlay Funds in the amount of $615,000. The portion of the property
where the new museum will be built is the only part of the property that will be transferred.
The timing of the transfer of this property to the State is critical and urgent to assure the
demolition and start of construction by the end of November of this year Enclosed please find
a copy of the Quit Claim Deed.
