A RESOLUTION APPROVING A PARKING FEE
INCREASE FOR CITY OWNED PARKING FACILITIES.
WHEREAS, The City of Pueblo has determined the monthly parking fees
presently established at the City owned parking facilities are not comparable with similar
privately operated parking lots, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
The monthly parking fees charged for parking in a City owned parking facility is
changed as follows:
FROM TO
Uncovered parking facility $27.00 per month $30.00 per month
Covered parking facility $37.00 per month $40.00 per month
SECTION 2.
The new monthly parking fees shall become effective January 1, 2002.

ISSUE
Shall City Council authorize the Department of Transportation to increase the monthly
parking fees charged in City owned parking facilities?
RECOMMENDATION
The Department of Transportation recommends approval of this resolution.
BACKGROUND
A survey of comparable private downtown parking lots, conducted by the Department of
Transportation during October 2001, indicates the fees charged to park in City owned
facilities should be increased by three dollars ($3.00) per month. This changes the
monthly charges to thirty dollars ($30.00) per month for uncovered parking and forty
dollars ($40.00) per month for covered parking.
The last fee increase was in 1999, increasing all uncovered lots to twenty -seven dollars
($27.00) per month and setting the rate of thirty -seven dollars ($37.00) per month for
covered parking in the Fred E. Weisbrod parking structure.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
A projected increase of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) annually (5000 monthly
permits multiplied by $3.00) is expected.
2001 PARKING FACILITY INVENTORY

In October 2001, the City of Pueblo surveyed owners /managers of parking facilities in the CBD area as to monthly parking lot rental fees charged by the private sector.
The private average monthly rates currently in place are thirty-one dollars ($31.00) for uncovered parking and forty dollars ($40.00) for covered parking facilities.
The City of Pueblo's current rates are twenty -seven dollars ($27.00) for uncovered and thirty -seven dollars ($37.00) for covered parking.
A projected increase of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) annually (5000 permit months multiplied by $3.00) is expected.
