HomeMy WebLinkAbout09259RESOLUTION NO. 9259 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $64,673.35 AND SETTING FORTH $3,233.67 FOR CONTENGENCIES TO JAY FURNEY CONSTRUCTION LLC., FOR STREET WIDENING IMPROVEMENTS ON FORTINO BLVD., BETWEEN HIGHWAY 50W AND VALLEY DRIVE. WHEREAS, proposals for FORTINO BLVD. — STREET WIDENING — HWY 50 TO VALLEY have been received and examined; and WHEREAS, the proposals of Jay Furney Construction LLC., of Pueblo, Colorado, was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. A contract for FORTINO BLVD. — STREET WIDENING — HWY 50 TO VALLEY, and the same is hereby awarded to said bidder for $64,673.35. SECTION 2. The Purchasing Agent be, and she is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work. Funds for said project shall come from Customer Deposit Account No. 715- 0000- 220.00- 00, Project Code DE 4830 ($33,035.00), DE 4846 ($16,813.25), DE 0101 ($9,574.00) and 2000 HUTF Account No. 210 - 9530- 600.70, Project Code HU 0005 ($8,484.77). ISSUE Should City Council award a construction contract for Street Widening Improvements on Fortino Blvd., between Highway 50W and Valley Drive, to Jay Furney Construction LLC., for $64,673.35. RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution BACKGROUND This project will widen Fortino Blvd. from High 50W to Valley Drive to allow double left turn lanes at Highway 50W and a right turn lane into the Colorado State Employees Credit Union and Albertsons. The developers of Gatway Plaza 1 sc Subdivision ( Albertsons), Eagle Hardware Subdivision (Lowes) and Gateway 2 nd Filing Subdivision (Colorado State Employees Credit Union) all escrowed funds to pay for these improvements. The City will fund the difference between the escrow amounts and the bid amount with its FY2000 HUTF fund balance. A vicinity map, as well as a bid tabulation are attached for your information.
