HomeMy WebLinkAbout09196RESOLUTION NO. 9196 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE WILLIAM WHITE BOULEVARD BRIDGE WIDENING PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, proposals for the William White Boulevard Bridge Widening Project have been received and examined; and WHEREAS, the proposal of TLM Constructors, Inc., of Swink, Colorado, was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1 A contract for the William White Boulevard Bridge Widening Project be, and the same is hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $572,029.00. SECTION 2 The Purchasing Agent be, and she is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3 In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work and 1 reimbursement to the Colorado Department of Transportation for direct costs. Background Paper for Proposed Resolution AGENDA ITEM It 10 DATE: January 8, 2001 DEPARTMENT: Public Works TITLE A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE WILLIAM WHITE BOULEVARD BRIDGE WIDENING PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME ISSUE Should City Council award a construction contract for the William White Boulevard Bridge Widening Project to TLM Constructors, Inc., for $572,029.00. RECOMMENDATION Approval of this Resolution BACKGROUND This resolution will approve a construction contract for the widening the William White Boulevard Bridge at the Pueblo Memorial Airport Industrial Park to match the roadway widths of the approaches on both sides, thereby eliminating a bottle -neck for traffic at the bridge. A sidewalk will also be added to the south side of the bridge. Construction is scheduled to begin in January and be completed by June of 2001. The low bid came in $47,188 over the engineer's estimate. The design and construction administration costs, bid amount, contingency funds and direct costs to the CDOT are now estimated to be $674,500. The $56,400 difference between the previously estimated total cost of $618,100 and the current estimate of $674,500 will be paid from the Highway Users Tax Fund (HUTF). The City's required match for this project is now estimated to be $320,132. Attached is a bid summary sheet showing the results of the competitive bids on this project FINANCIAL IMPACT Funds for this project will be paid in part, approximately 53 %, from a federal grant administered through the Colorado Department of Transportation, and in part, approximately 39 %, from the Airport %2 Cent Sales Tax Fund with the approximately 8% remainder from HUTF Funds. The total cost to the City for engineering, construction administration and construction is estimated to be approximately $674,500. The City is eligible for reimbursement up to $354,368 from CDOT bringing the City's share to an estimated $320,132. Of the City's share, $263,732 shall be disbursed from the Airport V2 Cent Sales Tax Fund with the remaining $56,400 coming from the HUTF Fund.
