BACKGROUND
Flooding along Fountain Creek in the spring of 1999 caused significant bank erosion along the east channel
bank, west of Jerry Murphy and north of Highway 47. (See attached vicinity map)
This project will provide 24" diameter rock (rip -rap) along the large bend in the channel to protect against
further erosion. The work will also include the reconstruction of a 36" Storm Sewer outfall adjacent to
Mohawk Road that was damaged during the flooding.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide approximately $6,500 for the repair of
the storm sewer outfall, however neither FEMA nor the other Federal Agencies involved in disaster relief,
have agreed to participate in the additional rip -rap protection for the channel bank.
Funds for this project will be paid from Account No. 401 - 0000 - 600.70 -10, CP9934.
Attached is a bid summary sheet showing the results of the competitive bids on this project.
