HomeMy WebLinkAbout8861RESOLUTION NO. 8861 A RESOLUTION APPROVING A JOINT SPONSORSHIP WITH THE COUNTY OF PUEBLO RELATING TO THE INTERSTATE 25, NORTH AND SOUTH ENTRANCE SIGNS, AND ENDORSING THE DESIGN CONCEPT WHERAS, the Medal of Honor is our Nation's highest award for military heroism, and WHERAS, the City of Pueblo has the unique distinction of being the only city in America (or the world) with four living recipients of the Medal of Honor, and WHERAS, the City of Pueblo has been recognized by the U.S. Congress in 1993 as the "Home of Heroes ", and WHERAS, it is fitting and appropriate to recognize the special significance of these distinctions and actions, and WHERAS, the North and South entrance signs to the community on Interstate 25 are in need of serious reconstruction, and WHERAS, the County of Pueblo has offered to jointly sponsor the installation of new entrance signs at a "not to exceed" cost of $40,000, and WHERAS, a design concept has been presented to the City Council of Pueblo that recognizes the distinction of being called "The Home of Heroes" "Congressional Medal of Honor ". NOW, THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO that: Section 1 Funds in the amount of $20,000.00 (half of the cost) shall be transferred from the Year 2000 Contingency Account to the Year 2000 Intergovernmental Account for the purpose of joint sponsorship of the North and South Entrance signs on Interstate 25.
