Title: A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT
FOR THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT -
FILTER MEDIA REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT
Department: WASTEWATER DEPARTMENT
ISSUE
Agenda Item #
Date: September 13, 1999
Should the City Council award a construction contract to Dirt and Demo, for the
removal and replacement of filter media at the City of Pueblo wastewater treatment
plant for $27,675.
RECOMMENDATION
Approval of the Resolution.
BACKGROUND
In 1994 the top layer of plastic filter media in the High Rate Trickling Filter at the City's
wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) was damaged by a hail storm. Since then, the
WWTP staff have been able to operate the Trickling Filter but it is getting to the point
that the media needs to be replaced.
Since timing is critical, the Wastewater Department ordered the new media and it will
be shipped September 21, 1999. The WWTP will make the necessary operational
changes and the contractor is to proceed with the removal of the top layer of media by
September 27, 1999. The project is expected to take approximately two (2) weeks.
FINANCIAL
The project will be financed by the Sewer Users Fee Fund. The project will be funded
from Account Number 014 - 0400 - 441 - 000 - 040 -1542.
