A RESOLUTION AWARDING THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE SKATE
PARK -PHASE I PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO
EXECUTE THE SAME
WHEREAS, proposal for the Skate Park -Phase I Construction project were
received and examiped; and
WHEREAS, the proposal of Vertex Concrete of Pueblo, Colorado was the lowest
of the bids determined to be responsible; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1 ..
A contract for the Skate Park -Phase I Construction Project be, and the same is
hereby awarded to said bidder in the amount of $71,400.00. The awarding of the contract
for the project set forth herein shall be subject to the filing of sufficient sureties to be
approved by the Purchasing Agent of said City.
SECTION 2
The Purchasing Agent be, and he is hereby authorized to execute said contract on
behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City
thereto and attest the same.
SECTION 3
In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional
amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional
work.
Contingencies and Additional Work ..... $ 7,140.00
SECTION 4
Funds for said project shall be paid from the following accounts and fund sources
and will be incorporated in one Project Account #002- 1998- 306 -0-40 -1125 Skate Park -
Phase I Construction Project for payment:
02 -1998- 306 - 000 - 040 -1125 (Lottery) $ 39,800
Pueblo County 1998 Lottery Allocation $ 25,000
054 -7090 (Lottery) $ 13,740

ISSUE:
Should City Council award a contract to Vertex Concrete for the construction of the Skate
Park - Phase I construction project for $71,400.00.
BACKGROUND:
In February of 1998, an architectural agreement for the design of the Skate Park project
was approved between the City and Anzuini Associates Architects. The architect, City staff
and the Skate Park Association conducted numerous public meetings to gain user input
for the proposed design of the skate park.
The skate park will be located in City Park directly north of the lake behind the office and
between Ballfield #1 and the maintenance compound. It is designed to accommodate all
skill levels and will be a year round facility. Phase I is approximately one -half of the project
which will include concrete amenities as requested during the public input. It is scheduled
for completion within 90 days. A Great. Outdoors Colorado grant application has been
submitted for Phase II which would enable the skate park to be completed in the summer
of 1999 if approved.
Bid information and available project funding is as follows:
BID: Vertex Concrete $ 71,400
10% Contingency 7.140
Phase I Project Total $ 78,540
AVAILABLE FUNDING:
02- 1998 - 306 - 000 - 040- 1125 $ 39,800
Pueblo County 1998 Lottery Allocation 25.000
TOTAL $ 64,800
DIFFERENCE ($ 13,740
Administration recommends that the additional funding of $ 13,740 be allocated by the
City Council from the City Lottery allocation.

The Skate Park - Phase I construction project would be funded as follows:

RECOMMENDATION:
The Pueblo Skate Park Association supports approval of this resolution.
