HomeMy WebLinkAbout8502RESOLUTION NO. 8502 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR PUEBLO MOUNTAIN PARK PRESERVATION/ RESTORATION - PHASE I PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, bid proposals for Phase I of the Pueblo Mountain Park Preservation/ Restoration project have been received and examined; and WHEREAS, the City of Pueblo has received a grant and entered into an agreement with the Colorado Historical Society to fund Phase I of the Pueblo Mountain Park Preservation/ Restoration project; and WHEREAS, the City of Pueblo received a bid proposal from Southern Colorado Construction who was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsible; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1 A contract for the Pueblo Mountain Park Preservation/Restoration - Phase I project is hereby awarded to Southern Colorado Construction, in the amount of $111,633.00. SECTION 2 The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute and deliver said contract, in the name of and on behalf of the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same. SECTION 3: In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, an additional $ 50,000 will be established for contingencies and extra work. SECTION 4 Funds for the said project shall be paid from Account No. 002 - 1997 - 306 - 000 -040- 1106, INTRODUCED: August 24, 1998 BY: Robert Schilling COUNCIL PERSON rd PRESWENT/OF CITY COUNCIL ATTESTED B CIT CLERK Act) # 8soz la k-z'4-qY Council Agenda TITLE: A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR PUEBLO MOUNTAIN PARK PRESERVATION/ RESTORATION - PHASE I PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME AGENDA ITEM # DEPARTMENT PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT DATE AUGUST 24, 1998 ISSUE: Should the City Council award a construction contract for Phase I of the Pueblo Mountain Park Preservation /Restoration project to Southern Colorado Construction in the amount of $111,633. BACKGROUND: On January 26, 1997, City Council approved and entered into an agreement with the Colorado Historical Society for Phase I improvements. The City has received a three year /three phase grant in the amount of $300,000 ($100,000 per year) from the Colorado Historical Society for restoration work on the Pueblo Mountain Park. The City will match the grant with $100,000 each year. The project will begin restoration improvements at the Horseshoe Lodge and Pavilion buildings, including: • Horseshoe LodW - repairing the girls dormitory porch; patching cracks in the stucco; replacing the ornamental vigas; grading; and installing an accessible ramp down to the dining hall. • Pavilion - repairing the vigas; replacing fixtures in restrooms; adding heating units; replacing flooring; adding light fixtures; replacing gutters; and providing erosion control measures in parking area. Attached is a bid summary sheet showing the results of the competitive bids on the project. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. FINANCIAL IMPACT: In addition to the bid amount of $111,633, an additional $50,000 will be established for contingencies and additional work. Funds and all expenditures will be available from Account No. 002 - 1997 -306- 000 - 040 -1106.
