From both of these parcels, approximately 6 acres will be designated as an 80' right -of -way for the future extension of High Street. Also, a small portion of the 30 acre parcel will be used for private residential development. The acquisition of these parcels will allow the City to create a 30± acre "natural" urban open space. RECOMMENDATON: Approval of the Resolution. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The City will be financially responsible for developing the roadway, at an estimated cost of $260,000, within a 5 to 10 year time period. The City will also be responsible for maintaining the project site. The staff of the Pueblo Parks Department is not able to estimate the operations and maintenance cost of the open space. The property is located between two existing park facilities, 24 ffi and High Street and Pueblo Pride Park. Visual inspections would be made of the property during the normal maintenance rotations for these two parks. Based upon these visual inspections or complaints from the area residences the Department would respond on an as needed basis. The grant application will require the City of Pueblo to obligate up to $30,000 in cash match towards acquiring the parcels. The $30,000 cash match could come from the City's annual Conservation Trust Fund "Lottery" allotment.
